Grayson’s 2 Month Update

Maybe someday I will get this monthly update up in a timely manner and not halfway through the next month.

Weight: 12 lbs 14 oz
Height:  24 1/8 inches
Head Size:  15 1/4
Clothes: 0-3
Diapers: size 1

This month Grayson grew out of being so sleepy all the time and is awake more during the day. In fact, he doesn’t nap much during the day but luckily he started sleeping completely during the night at 5 weeks and hasn’t looked back. That was one week sooner than Elin started sleeping through the night! She started sleeping through the night at 6 weeks and has NEVER looked back. She wakes up maybe once a month (if that) in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, but that’s it. We are hoping he will be another good night sleeper.

About a week into month two he hit a big growth spurt and got really chubby really fast! It was like overnight he just got bigger! He is almost too long for his bassinet stroller and his feet are almost sticking out past his infant carrier! Luckily, he still fits in the bassinet stroller because he loves going for walks! He seems to like the constant motion and the fresh air. He just seems so at peace on walk.

Grayson has found his hands and will hold his hands a lot. He reaches up and bats at toys on his activity gym and he also likes to kick at the little stuffed animals.

He has really taken to his bouncer seat and swing this month. He will often fall asleep in there for little naps throughout the day.

These pictures crack me up that he fell asleep during our little photo shoot!

Elin continues to love her brother so much and loves to sit and “play” with him everyday. He has started watching her more closely and smiling at her when she sits with him.

Angel is still uncertain on her feelings. She seems to want to protect him from Elin when she is loud and running around, but she likes to keep a safe distance from both of them.

Elin has had one big year! She started and ended her first year of school, she had her first dance recital, and probably the biggest event was becoming a big sister! People ask me all the time if she is adjusting well and it’s funny because she really hasn’t had to adjust to the new little person in our house. She has never acted jealous or upset over his arrival. She has been so loving and just wants him to be happy. She can’t wait until he can start playing with her and interacting with her more.

Grayson’s 1 month Update

Weight: 9 lbs 14 oz
Height:  24 inches
Head Size:  14.5
Clothes: Newborn
Diapers: Newborn

How has it already been a month?!?! Time is already flying and Grayson is already officially a one month old. He has been a pretty good baby so far. The first couple of weeks he slept all the time! It was hard to get him to wake up for feedings and stay awake. Then he did a week or 2 of cluster feeding at night and now just this past week he was making stretches of 5-8 hours between feedings at night! Not bad! There is still not a pattern to his schedule yet and he likes to shake it up for me often so that I have no idea if he is going to stay up between feedings or sleep, but that is to be expected.

He likes to be held and jiggled around or patted a lot when he is awake. He has also been enjoying his swing more and more each passing week. He is learning how to suck his thumb but having trouble keeping it held in there.

He has already rolled over from his stomach to his back 3 times at one week of age! He is very strong and is constantly working on lifting his head and keeping it up on his own.

He has been enjoying walks and being outside in the fresh air. It usually lulls him right to sleep.

Elin still continues to be pretty smitten with her new little brother and loves to lay on his activity mat with him and keep him entertained.

He is still a little yellow from breastfeeding jaundice. His pediatrician said that it’s common in breastfeed babies and that it will go away in a couple of months. I think it goes away a little each day.

Elin 3.5 Year Update

Elin is long over due on a 3.5 year old update! Since turning 3.5 she has learned that she will become a big sister just before she turns 4! She is super excited for the baby and I think she will be wonderful with helping out with the baby. She transitioned from her toddler bed to a twin bed. She loves her new bed and I have gotten her to cut down on all the stuffed animals in there. She still has her favorites with her.

She has been working on her first recital dance and will perform for the first time in about a month and a half.

She has been in school now for 6.5-7 months and still continues to love it. I’ve gotten to attend many field trips and classroom parties which has been a fun way to see her interacting with all her little friends.

She is very interested in letter and words and is constantly asking me what the first letter in certain words are. So we are working on sounding out words to try to figure out what letters are in words. She has known how to spell her name for a long time now but recently she loves to practice writing it out. I am constantly amazed at all that learns and maintains.

What does Elin think of me?

I saw this really fun survey to ask your kids to record the funny things that will come to their mind. I thought it would be a great way to remember what Elin thought of me at 3.5 years old. I plan to try to remember to ask her these questions again in a year and see how her answers change!

1. What is something mom always says to you? Pink Doggie!

2. What makes mom happy? Legos

3. What makes mom sad? Crying

4. How does your mom make you laugh? My slinky (we had just found one in her toy bin a few minutes earlier.)

5. What was your mom like as a child?  A baby

6. How old is your mom? (She asked Phil until he gave her the correct answer)  32

7. How tall is your mom? (She asked Phil again and she guessed 5’5)

8. What is her favorite thing to do? Play with me

9. What does your mom do when you’re not around? Go to work

10. If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for? For toys

11. What is your mom really good at? Shows (I’m guessing she means watching shows)

12. What is your mom not very good at?  Listening to me (this one made me sad! I always listen to her! I guess I’m too busy watching shows…..)

13. What does your mom do for a job? Painting

14.What is your mom’s favorite food? Green Beans

15.What makes you proud of your mom? Babies (Not sure if she means when I buy stuffed animals for her or when I play with them with her. She refused to elaborate.)

16. If your mom were a character, who would she be?  Mickey Mouse!

17. What do you and your mom do together? Read stories

18. How are you and your mom alike? We both like to play with the Calico Critter house

19. How are you and your mom different? She would not answer this one.  She was distracted and getting tired from the questioning.

20. How do you know your mom loves you? Kisses

21. What does your mom like most about your dad? Kisses

22. Where is your mom’s favorite place to go? Grocery Store  (she is soooooo wrong on this!)

Elin is officially 3 years old! She has had such an amazing and exciting year! She has grown so much physically and intellectually. She is becoming more outgoing everyday.

Two weeks before her birthday, we celebrated by going on her first Disney trip. She got the royal treatment all week long, and when we got home we celebrated her actual birthday by taking her to see the Cinderella movie in the theatre and also got her presents. A few days after that she had her birthday party with family and friends.

She has recently changed from a 45 minute dance lesson to 1.5 hours and she now takes ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop. We are planning on trying gymnastics in the near future.

In two short months she will be going to preschool and will probably start learning and growing exponentially.

I’m so proud at the sweet, funny, smart and loving little girl Elin has become. She couldn’t make me more proud if she tried!

2.75 years old or 33 months

When people ask me how old Elin is, it is so awkward because she is over 2.5 but not yet 3. I am now referring to it as 2.75 even thought that sounds super nerdy. However, I feel like this is a significant age to record because she is changing lots!

She has always loved books, but now she can spend 30-45 mins just looking at her books and reading them to herself out loud. I love to hear her reading the stories and making it up with the pictures. It is seriously the cutest thing ever! We have a lot of books about bunnies that aren’t even Easter-related and those are some her favorites. As she flips through the pages, she talks about how cute and soft the baby bunnies are.

She has been extra affectionate lately with everyone and especially her puppies. She loves to cuddle with Fifi and she gives her little kisses all the time. She has learned to be especially gentle with her.

The winter has left us with mostly indoor activities like coloring. Coloring and drawing are something we do daily. She has gotten much better with her skills lately. She always asks me to color with her and she really studies how I color. You can tell she is trying to mimic my movements.

On the occasion we do get outside, Elin loves the snow.

Elin loves playing with her friends. She is a lucky girl because she is involved with a lot of activities and has lots of playdates.

Elin is starting to get more into all things Disney and princess related. Just the other night, she sat and watched all of “Beauty and the Beast”, and as soon as it was over she asked, “Can I watch another Disney princess now, please?”

She also loves to sing all the times. She sings to herself and asks me to sing to her all the time. God only knows when the thought of me singing with her will embarrass her to death. Probably sooner than I think. Her favorite songs are, “The Itsy Bitsy Spider”, “The ABC Song”, “Frère Jacques”, and “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”.

This is one of the best ages yet. I love every minute of it. So far we have be escaping too many tantrums.

2.5 Years Old

Elin just turned 2.5 years old last Sunday!  Before we know it she will be 3 years old. Somehow the 2s are flying faster than the 1s!  She is such a happy and smart little girl.  She loves to sing and dance.  When she gets in the car she immediately asks for music and she loves to sing along to the radio.  Her absolute favorite song right now is Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” but she shockingly knows the lyrics to many songs on the radio.

She also loves to watch music videos and she taught herself to do the splits from watching Sia’s Chandelier.

She repeats and says everything!  She has recently learned my first name and thinks it’s hilarious to say that sometimes. She also loves to repeat all the names of her family.  Her favorite phrases are , “I did it!!”, “What are you talking about?”, “Oh my goodness!” and, “Would you look at that?”

She is enamored with all things Christmas and loves all the decorations everywhere.  This is the first year she has a concept of Santa and I’m looking forward to her visiting him.  Her favorite holiday book is “Llama Llama Holiday Drama”.

She loves dressing up and wearing jewelry, playing with her kitchen, crafting and reading books.  She also loves any time outdoors but sadly the weather has not been great for going outside.

I am very proud of her for trying to be a good girl most of the time.  She is pretty good at listening to directions and minding what she is told. Just being near her brings us so much joy!

Elin’s 28 month update

The Stats:

Weight: 28 lbs
Height: 35.25 inches
Clothes: 2T or 3T
Diapers: Size 5
Shoes: 7

Elin has a lot of favorites, so I will just post of her top five favorites in each of the categories.

Words and Phrases:

What is that?
Look at me!
Baby Care Bear? [Pick me up] (No one understands how this has come about.  She has no idea what Care Bears are.)
Clean Elmo [When she wants a new diaper–because Elmo is on her diapers]
What’s wrong baby?  (Says to herself when she is upset.)

Favorite Songs:

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Are You Sleeping?
Flower Song
Rock a Bye Baby

Favorite Books:

A Potty for Me: Karen Katz
Polly’s Pink Pajamas: Vivian French
Amelia Bedeliah’s First Day of School: Herman Parish
Commotion in the Ocean: Giles Andrea & David Wojtowycz
Anna’s Act of Love/Elsa’s Icy Magic: RH Disney

Elin is full of energy and full of life. She loves to dance and spin, all while singing and laughing. She also enjoys reading her books, watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Doc McStuffins, playing with her kitchen, playing with her little friends, and petting her doggies. Mostly only Fifi because Angel is pretty scared of her.

She still attends ballet class, Gymboree, and story time. She is always trying to do somersaults, so a gymnastics class might be in the near future.

Elin has enjoyed toeing the line and testing the boundaries on what is right and wrong. We have been lucky to escape major tantrums but we have some mini ones of throwing toys, screaming, and running from me. She usually screams and runs and sits on the stairs when she is upset. When she is over it, she comes running back and acts like everything is normal.

I am constantly amazed at all the things she knows and picks up from others. You tell her something once and she remembers it for a lifetime. She is our silly girl and we love her to bits!

24 Months

The Stats:
Weight: 26.5 lbs
Height: 35. 375inches
Clothes:  2T
Diapers: Size 4
Shoes: 6-6.5
Teeth: 18
Head Size: 19 inches

This is a tad over due but better late than never.

We have made it to the terrific twos! Elin has really grown this month physically and mentally. She looks like she grows a little taller each day! It’s really quite unbelievable. She went  from the 60th percentile in height at her 18 month check up to the 80th for her 24 month check up.

New Words and Phrases

“Popo” what she calls her Papa
Birthday Party
“Streeb” strawberry
“GuacGuas” glasses
“Ephant” elephant
Minnie Mouse
Mow Grass
Ride Tractor

Elin is constantly talking and singing and she loves to screech at ear-splitting decibels. She is usually happy, but when she is not…she is not. She has officially started throwing fits which has not been awesome but they are manageable at this point.

Elin’s big first this month was sleeping in a regular bed. She still sleeps in a crib at home, but during the week when she naps at her Nanny’s house, she sleeps in a regular twin bed. She does great and sleeps well in there. This month she has started taking longer naps in her crib during the day as well, which has been nice.

This month she has also learned how to crawl in her highchair and get seated herself when we tell her it’s time to eat. She doesn’t get into a booster because we have this chair that converts different ways so she can stay in the chair as she grows.

Her favorite thing ever still is to be outside. Whether is talking a walk or playing in the yard, she just loves being outdoors. She is obsessed with wearing sunglasses outside. She is quickly accumulating quite the sunnies collection.
