Halloween 2016- Grayson’s First Halloween

Halloween was such a busy night this year! We had a lot to do and a lot of people to see in a short period of time. Immediately after work I went to pick up the kids and got them all dressed and their Nanny and Papa’s house so they could see them all dressed up.

Grayson received a new sleeper a baseball rattle and a book about pumpkins.

Elin scored a cat and carrier Doc McStuffin’s set. She has been loving it.

Then we went over to the cousins’ house to see them and Elin stayed this year to trick or treat with them and some of the neighborhood kids.

Elin was so excited to have other kids to go around with this year. She couldn’t keep up very well because these kids ran from house to house like they were in a race. After about 30 mins of going door to door she was done and declared she had enough candy and didn’t need anymore. She mainly just wanted to walk around holding Papa’s hand after that.

On our way home from trick or treating we stopped at another family friend’s house to trick or treat.

Then we got home and visited a couple of neighbors as well.

We got some pics of Grayson all dressed up as well. We got him a “First Halloween” rattle and a Halloween book. Elin got a cute dress that looked very similar to her costume for her Bitty Baby doll. I failed to get a picture of that.

Elin stayed up way too late looking through her candy and helping me answer the door.

Elin’s Audrey Hepburn Costume

Elin saw a picture of Audrey Hepburn somewhere and she asked me who she was. I tried to tell her a little bit about her and  showed her the movie trailer to “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”  She thought Audrey was so beautiful and a princess so she asked me to show her more pictures and we did a google search and found a picture of a little girl dressed up as Audrey and Elin went crazy.  After I had to explain to her it was just a costume and not the real Audrey as a child we discussed the possibility of Elin dressing up as Audrey Hepburn for Halloween and from there I started planning and putting together her costume.  Elin loves it and feels like such a princess! She said the next time she goes to Disney World she has to find Audrey.

Since this is such a special costume we decided  to take her on a little photo shoot and get some pictures of her around town.  Elin had the best time walking along and posing for her camera.  I am so in love with the photos!  There were so many great ones to share but here is some of my favorites.

Pumpkin Patch #2: Appleworks

A couple of weekends ago we made a last minute decision to go to another pumpkin patch since the weather was so beautiful! So after one of Elin’s T-ball games, we went Appleworks in Trafalgar. We had such a great time. The weather was absolutely perfect. Sunny with bright blue skies but crisp enough to wear long sleeves. The perfect fall weather!

Elin wanted to immediately start looking for the perfect pumpkin. I limited her to only once since we already had quite a few pumpkins from the last patch visit.

Grayson was all smiles and enjoying the bumpy ride in his stroller as we walked him along in the patch. He loves to be constantly moving!

After picking out the perfect pumpkin, we took non-hay filled wagon up to the kids area. We had to wait quite a long time to get on the wagon, but once we were on it, the ride was so nice because it was a little longer than your typical ride. Elin loved going around the large pond on the property.

Once we got up to the kids area, Elin quickly spotted a train and pony rides. I told her she could do both so we got in line for the ponies first.

Elin loves the ponies and I had a hard time getting her to hold on with two hands because she wanted to pet the pony with one hand the whole time. She could have ridden them all afternoon if they would have let her.

Then she eagerly waited for the train to come back and it never did! Apparently it ran out of gas and so they had to stop the train rides. What a bummer!

I just love this pic of Grayson smiling up at Elin. He loves it when she comes over to his stroller to be silly which she does a lot!  They had so much fun at the patch that we decided to hit up a different patch the next day. I’ll share those pics soon!

Halloween Pajama & Costume Party

Halloween season is officially here!  I have never been a huge fan of the holiday but it’s so much better with kids! Elin is so excited to go to the pumpkin patch, jump in the leaves and of course dressing up and getting candy.  I can’t wait to experience all that with her and now Grayson.  Since it is so much to see all the little ones in their adorable costumes, Halloween themed pajamas and enjoying the Halloween festivities and parties; I have teamed up with some of my favorite blogger’s for a fun link up.   Take lots of your pictures of you little goblin’s and ghosts and linkup with us Oct 27-Nov 3rd.

Halloween Fun

Elin has been anxiously anticipating Halloween for what seems like forever! She has been watching so many Halloween-themed shows and working on lots of Halloween and fall inspired arts and crafts projects, and finally the Halloween weekend has arrived for her. On Friday we went to the annual Halloween party at Phil’s work. The party and haunted house was held in the new building which is still under construction for added spookiness.

The first thing we did when we got there was the cookie decorating which was obviously a big hit for Elin and she couldn’t help but start eating her creations before she was even finished decorating. Then she played dozens of carnival type games and got lots of candy prizes.

The theme was Star Wars and Elin enjoyed checking out all the lightsabers. She also begged to go in the scary haunted house and made it all the way through and did not cry! She was a little scared but didn’t get upset. She wanted to go through it again!

Then on Halloween night she got done up again as Cinderella.  She was so excited to go trick or treating but honestly didn’t last that long. She just wanted to come back and start eating her candy! Her Papa took her around the neighborhood and and also took her over to her cousins’ to trick or treat with them for a little bit.

Luckily the weather did not turn out rainy as predicted and it really wasn’t too cold out.

She says her favorite candy is suckers and she does love them, but she bites into them before she is finished eating them which drives me crazy! She has loved everything she has sampled so far from her bag.

Arrival Day Party and Zoo Boo

Angel just celebrated her first arrival day birthday without Fiona. It was very sad to not have her there. Angel didn’t seem like she was in the partying mood, but she was very good and let me take her photo. She is 14.5 years old now.

Elin desperately wanted to get in on the photos so she sat with Angel for some photos. I love the one of them staring at each other. Elin loves Angel, but Angel is still not a huge fan of Elin. She tolerates her, but I think Angel is still just scared of Elin and thinks she is too loud.

I have no idea where Elin has learned this head tilt, but she has wanted to take pictures like that all weekend long.

Daisy came over for the party and brought some gifts. I didn’t get a good picture of them together which is a bummer. But they enjoyed some birthday treats and hopefully had a nice visit together.

Elin also go to visit Zoo boo with her Nanny and her friend, Lydia. She dressed in a Minnie Mouse dress-up outfit which is not the costume she is going to wear on Halloween, but I thought this would be better for the zoo. Plus, it was easier to layer a shirt and pants underneath it.

These two looked like they were having a blast and I’m glad they got to get there this year.

A Very Cold Halloween

Elin was pretty pumped for Halloween this year and sadly the weather was so bad that she only got to go to a few houses this year to trick-or-treat. It was raining and cold!  It even snowed and sleeted a little.  We bundled Elin up and added many layers to her costume just let her go to a few houses on our street and to drive over to her Nana and Papa’s.  Despite the bad weather she loved every minute of trick-or -treating and also loved to answer and the door and see other kids come up to the house in their costumes.  We didn’t have near the amount of kids we usually do due to the weather which was sad.

I love this picture of her answering the door to some trick-or-treaters.   We had all her pumpkins outside but hauled in all the small ones for her play with.

We are hopping next year’s weather will be much better!

Pumpkins and Party Fits

Last weekend we went to another pumpkin patch because Elin loves them and talks about them all the time.  We went on a Friday evening which worked out well because the weather was beautiful and there was not much of a huge crowd.  Elin was on a mission for a square pumpkin like Spookley the square pumpkin but alas he was nowhere to be found.  So she settled on a many others instead.

We have more pumpkins than we know what to with.

This particular orchard and patch was very pretty and picturesque.  There was a “cool bus” to pose with and Elin was excited to pose with her Papa.

Then on Saturday there was a Halloween party at Gymboree.  Elin was so excited and had been talking about it but let me tell you—when we got to party she threw a huge fit and was not in a party mood.  Her costume has a big tutu so I changed her in the back of the car when we got there and she was not a fan of that.  I think that is what set her over the edge.  When we got inside, she did not want to take her shoes off so they let her keep them on and she spent the first party of  the party pouting and being anti-social.  Isn’t that the saddest little puppy on the floor?

She perked up when she started noticing all the decorations and the non-spooky haunted house.

She spent a good party of the party in the haunted house with her pal Kelsey and they were very taken with this little ghost that made ghostly noise.  They would get in there and just shriek with happiness.

I thought the wall of felt monsters was rather creative.  They had a huge piece of blue felt up and then dozens of felt parts and pieces to make your own monsters.  Elin seemed to really enjoy that as well.

Then is was time for a snack and a monster craft.  Elin was excited to see pumpkin pretzels.  She currently loves pretzels!

She did a great job on her craft and we left a littler happier than we came.

Zoo Boo 2014

This past weekend we took Elin to her first Zoo Boo.  She loves the zoo, so we thought she would love to get dressed up in a costume and see the zoo all decked out with Halloween decorations.  The weather was very nice but I still decided to put Elin in a different costume that what she plans to wear on Halloween just so she would feel more comfortable.  I put her in a cheerleader outfit and she loved it!

She was so excited when we told her where we were going.

We went to her favorite area first which is the aquatics area.  She always gets lucky and the animals always come up close to her.

The zoo has stations that pass out candy along the paths and even though Elin was tentative to walk up to strangers, she loved getting things put in her bag.  She did say “trick or treat” a few times but usually it was after they put the candy in her bag.

She loved visiting the big tent that had pumpkin bowling and other games as well as really loud music.  She didn’t get quite get the concept of the pumpkin bowling and instead would run with the pumpkin and just hurl it over the pins to the guy catching the ball.  Thank goodness the pumpkins were light.

She also loved drawing with chalk and dancing to the music.

There was plenty of cute photo stations set up.  Elin loved this one because it was closer to her height than most of these things usually are.

On our way out the door we spotted the best attraction of all.  To say she was starstruck when she saw Elsa was an understatement.  She first just stood there and stared at her.  Elin is not one to walk up to adults she doesn’t know really well and she is very shy when other adults that she doesn’t know well talk to her.  So we had to coax her to go stand by her and she just stood there so awkwardly like she was afraid to move!  Despite how her face looks in the picture she was extremely excited to see her.

We had such a good time and good luck with nice weather.  Elin’s nap was only about 10 minutes in the car on the way home but she still remained in the a good mood later that day.

Pumpkin Painting

Elin was super excited to be invited over to her cousins house for a little painting party.  She loves arts and crafts, but when you add in pumpkins it makes for an extra special experience.  It was a beautiful day which was perfect for painting outside.  My sister had so many paints, glitters, and jewels for the kids to use.

Max has had lots of experience with painting and glittering and was a good teacher at showing Elin how it was done.

They both did such a good job on their pumpkins and especially at keeping the mess to a minimum.

She also got such a fun gift bag with fun Halloween goodies!  She is loving everything and uses her cup and toys daily.

After painting, the kids ate a picnic dinner and played out in the yard for the rest if the evening,  Needless to say, Elin was sad to go home and leave all the fun she was having.

Here are the pumpkins displayed on the mantle just liked Elin asked.  My sister knew a good tip of spraying the pumpkins with a clear coat in order to cut down on glitter transfer.  They turned out so nice!
