Disney Day 6

It was so sad to wake up on the sixth day of our trip and know it was a our very last day in Disney. We tried to pack as much as we could the night before so we could enjoy as much time as we could in the park.

I had to get some shots of the park from our hotel room on the last day.

The Grand Floridan hotel was also a beautiful view from our hotel room. I would love to have enough time to check it out on a future trip.

On our way into the park I noticed this posted above the entrance and I have no idea why I never noticed previously.

It was very crowded in the park and we didn’t have a lot of time to spend, but we managed to ride a few different things; one of which was the Peter Pan ride. It was an insanely long wait and in retrospect it was not even remotely worth the wait, but I felt like we needed to see it before we left. At least there were lots of things to look at while waiting in line. It took you all through the Darling household and had some very cool special effects as you saw TinkerBell flying all around.

By the time we got off the ride, we only had enough time to get Elin a quick lunch and head back to our hotel to catch the Magical Express bus from our hotel to the airport.

Check out the chocolate mouth. She had just devoured a chocolate chip cookie.

We arrived at the airport and Elin immediately spotted a Snow White statute and wanted to get a picture with it. She must have really regretted not getting a picture of her at Cinderella’s Royal Table.

Once on the plane, Elin got strapped in along with pink doggy, Gus, and Jaq and she enjoyed Mickey Mouse Clubhouse episodes until she fell asleep until just before the plane landed.

Elin was excited for her friend Kelsey’s birthday party the very next day! The party was at our local Gymboree and had a Frozen theme. This picture cracks me up because Elin was very focused on the birthday girl blowing out her candles.

Notice the room has completely cleared out but these two were s-l-o-w-l-y enjoying their cake. Catching up with a friend post-trip should not be rushed.

Such happy girls! Friends from birth to three years old.

Two Frozen Parties

Elin had two Frozen themed parties to go to within 4 days of each other.   As you can imagine she was extremely excited for both.

The first party was held at Gymboree.  She was thrilled to see her pal Kelsey there!  Those two enjoyed running around and playing some Frozen themed games and listening the movie soundtrack.

Elin’s favorite activity was hanging like a monkey from the ladder.  She really thought that was exciting.

Then it was time for snacks and crafts.  The snack was ice cream and unfortunately Elin is still not a fan so they gave her some animal crackers and gold fish.  I can’t believe she still doesn’t like ice cream!  I think she doesn’t enjoy the coldness.

The craft was making an adorable Olaf!  She is obsessed with snowmen so she loved making Olaf and loves how he is adorning our refrigerator right now.

Our next Frozen themed party was a few days later at our local library.   This party encouraged dressing up so Elin wore her Elsa outfit.  We arrived to the party early enough to have time to browse the books first.

The  party had many Elsa’s! All the kids sat and listened to trivia about the movie and then they played they played parts of the movie and all the kids sang along.

Elin enjoyed getting to know other princesses.  It’s amazing to me with all those Elsa costumes no two costumes were alike!!

Crafting time was next and we made another Olaf.  Elin loved this activity and gluing on all the snowflakes.

They had the cutest cupcakes for a snack and blue punch.  The punch was a mixture of blue Hawaiian punch, sprint and sherbert.  It was very pretty and I’m sure very good.

There was a photo area set up to get pictures taken.

Some other activities we did was playing with a substance that looked like sand but was similar to snow.  It was very odd  in that it was cold and light and fluffy but the kids seemed to like it.  Coloring Anna and Elsa pages were also a hit.

This was the second Frozen party they put on because it was so popular the first time and they fulfilled the registrant limit within the first hour of the registration being live.

The library did such a good job putting together the event and it was free! I hope they continue to offer such fun events!

Two More Santa Visits

Last week we went to the mall to see Santa. We choose an evening during the week to avoid the crowds but ended up waiting over an hour to see Santa! Elin was in good spirits and so excited the whole wait. She even caught Santa’s eye a few times and was waving at him. Finally it was our turn and she ran to him and gave him a big hug. When he asked her what she wanted for Christmas she told him presents and surprises again. I am so glad the photographer caught a good smile. I’m so glad she loves Santa. It’s so cute to see her face light up when she sees anything with his face on it.

Here is a cute shot of her patiently waiting her turn and watching other kids see Santa.

Then because seeing Santa for a second time wasn’t enough, we saw him again at a Gymboree Christmas party.

She enjoyed giving him hugs and she was thrilled to get a little candy cane striped rubber ducky from him.

Afterwards, she enjoyed playing in the play gym and making an ornament. The ornament was such a  cute idea!  They were plastic balls that the we filled with glitter snow and then the kids got to pick out christmasy foam pieces to put in it. I liked that they were plastic and easy to make. I might have to look for similar ones of these to make with her in the future.

Pumpkins and Party Fits

Last weekend we went to another pumpkin patch because Elin loves them and talks about them all the time.  We went on a Friday evening which worked out well because the weather was beautiful and there was not much of a huge crowd.  Elin was on a mission for a square pumpkin like Spookley the square pumpkin but alas he was nowhere to be found.  So she settled on a many others instead.

We have more pumpkins than we know what to with.

This particular orchard and patch was very pretty and picturesque.  There was a “cool bus” to pose with and Elin was excited to pose with her Papa.

Then on Saturday there was a Halloween party at Gymboree.  Elin was so excited and had been talking about it but let me tell you—when we got to party she threw a huge fit and was not in a party mood.  Her costume has a big tutu so I changed her in the back of the car when we got there and she was not a fan of that.  I think that is what set her over the edge.  When we got inside, she did not want to take her shoes off so they let her keep them on and she spent the first party of  the party pouting and being anti-social.  Isn’t that the saddest little puppy on the floor?

She perked up when she started noticing all the decorations and the non-spooky haunted house.

She spent a good party of the party in the haunted house with her pal Kelsey and they were very taken with this little ghost that made ghostly noise.  They would get in there and just shriek with happiness.

I thought the wall of felt monsters was rather creative.  They had a huge piece of blue felt up and then dozens of felt parts and pieces to make your own monsters.  Elin seemed to really enjoy that as well.

Then is was time for a snack and a monster craft.  Elin was excited to see pumpkin pretzels.  She currently loves pretzels!

She did a great job on her craft and we left a littler happier than we came.

Gymbo’s Birthday Party

Gymboree had another fun event last Friday and it was for Gymbo’s birthday party. Elin had been looking forward to the party all week. The teachers told us this was a good way to see how they host birthday parties since Gymboree is a place you can rent out for your child’s birthday.  All the games were birthday related and helped explain what birthdays are and why there are parties for them. Of course there was lots of free play which is great, as well as some organized activities.

Elin was excited to see Gymbo and she especially enjoyed dancing with him. She has come a long way because even though she has always loved Gymboree, she was never too sure about Gymbo the clown.

Elin was super excited for the party hats and cupcakes! She has also come a long way in her sweets aversion. She ate the icing off the cupcake!  She is still cagy about the cake.

I was glad I had thought to bring a bib because she was mess of icing and sprinkles!

Needless to say, she had so much fun that she didn’t really want to leave, but I was able to pull her out of there by promising to bring her back the next day for class.

Jungle Party

Elin, like a lot of childen, loves animals so at the last minute I decided to take her to a jungle-themed party at our local Gymboree class. She was in rare form and was extremely excited to be at Gymboree for a special event. My iPhone pictures are less than stellar, but I want to document this experience because of how much fun she had.

When we got to the party, the kids had time to run around and play for a little bit before it was time to sit in a circle to see the animals. Elin normally would have been running around like crazy but she immediately knew something was up when she saw the Rubbermaid containers with holes poked in them and she danced around the containers asking me to open them. After some coaxing, I got her to sit a second in the circle but she popped up and remained standing for the rest of the circle time. She was so excited that she ran up next to the animal presenter and basically was his shadow for the evening. It was hard to get her to leave his side. He was obviously the coolest person in the room with all this boxes of animals.

The animal viewing started off tame with a turtle.

Then a really cute bunny. He was by far the cutest animal there and I wouldn’t have minded taking him home.

Next there was a Hedgehog.  His spikes were pretty cool and were not as prickly as expected. He hid his face because we were told he didn’t like getting held or petted, which is a shame since that is what the poor guy gets to do with this life.

Then there was an iguana. For some reason, this one made Elin giggle every time she petted him. I think she wasn’t expecting the texture of his skin and for some reason that made her laugh.

Then we meet a alligator named jaws. Elin liked checking out his eyes.

Then the big boa constrictor was brought out. I have to say I was not expecting to see an animal like this at a children’s event. A few people left the area because they were freaked out and some people were so amazed they took pictures of themselves holding him up around their necks. Think Britney Spears VMA performance circa 2001. Elin was not scared at all and petted him but she wasn’t as enthralled with him as the other animals.  She was also getting antsy though. I would have liked to hold him and check him out more, however I think holding him around my face and neck was a little out of my comfort zone.

She was dancing and hissing in this picture.

Then we petted a arctic fox but sadly I didn’t get any good photos. He was soft and seemed just like a dog.

Then we completed the evening with a painting craft.

Elin had such a great time and I’m so glad she is an animal lover like me.

Wonderful Weekend

Another weekend has come and gone and I’m sad to see it go. I usually measure the success of the weekend by how much I was able to get done. Everything from cleaning, errands, projects, to spending time with Elin. The more I get done, the better the weekend. Sadly, this weekend I didn’t do any cleaning or projects, but it was still a fantastic weekend.

Elin was just so good all weekend long. On Saturday, we went to Gymboree where Elin got to hang out with her pal Kelsey.

Then we went on a fun playdate  to visit my friend Emily and her lovely daughter Frances. Elin had a blast playing and hanging out with Frances. It was a beautiful day outside, so they got to take their baby dolls on walk.

On Sunday we did some errands and played outside. I’m just so proud of Elin and how good and well-behaved she is. I’m so glad that we can go and do many different things in a day without much of a nap and with no schedule and she can still function and be a in a good mood. This was one of those weekends where I just stopped and stared at her in awe of what a  fantastic little girl she is. She is such a blessing.

Sweetheart Party

Elin attended her first Valentine’s day party on Saturday at Gymboree. We meet her Nana and Papa there and she really enjoyed showing off to them. The first half of the party was some organized activities and some free gym to music. Elin LOVED the music. She danced and danced! I really need to find her a dance class in the area that would take 2 year olds and under. So far I have not had much luck.

Elin Dancing

We had one mishap where she tripped and bit her tongue. Her tongue bled a little and there was about 2 minutes of tears, but she quickly recovered and was back out on the dance floor gym mat in no time.

The second half of the party was in a different room where there was snack time and then a craft. The snack was water or juice and a valentine cookie. Elin does not like sweets and would not eat her cookie at all! The closest thing she will eat is animal crackers. She did like picking the sprinkles off the cookie.

After the snacks, they started their crafts. They colored paper hearts attached to sticks and then stuck the sticks into Styrofoam to make heart bouquets. I thought it was a cute and unique idea!

Elin Valentine's Crafts

After the craft time, there was a little bit more open gym time and then we left. All in all, I think she had a blast. She was worn out and fell asleep a couple minutes after we pulled out of the parking lot.
