Indiana University

img_5507

A couple of weekends ago it was a beautiful sunny fall day and we made a spontaneous decision to drive to Bloomington to walk around Indiana University. Despite the fact that we are only about 40 mins away, we had never taken Elin there to show her where we we went to school.

I had Elin and Grayson dressed in their matching sweatsuits, so of course I had a little photo shoot!

The drive down was very pretty with lots of beautiful trees to see along the way. We parked in the downtown Kirkwood area and walked in through the Sample Gates. The flowers and trees were so beautiful. It would have been a perfect day for fall photos outside. Elin had lots of questions about how it was a school that you lived at. She also could not understand the concept that she was not born yet. She kept saying, “But, where was I when you lived here? Was I still in your tummy?” I tried explaining to her that was many years before she was born but she didn’t understand.

She loved this first statue we came to near Franklin Hall. I actually don’t remember this statue at all and this was Elin’s favorite.  She was so cute as she talked to him and she asked me to take her photo with him.

dscn6591

She of course loved the sitting statue of Herman B. Wells.

dscn6607

Then we made our way to the Rose Well House. It’s a beautiful gazebo building made of stone in 1908 and this is where Phil and I got engaged. I wished I got a good picture of the outside of it because it’s so pretty.

Then we meandered all through the pathways and eventually to Showalter fountain. Elin was starting to get tired from walking at this point and had to go to the bathroom so we then walked back the Union building and walked around in there.

The campus just gets more and more beautiful over time. I hope that we can come  back in the spring for a more extended excursion and maybe pack a picnic to bring with us.

Grayson (6 Months) & Elin (4.5 Years) Pics

About a month ago we had fall pictures planned for a sunny Friday morning. Even though it was sunny later in the day, it was pretty cold during our outdoors session! Also, Grayson is always so happy and smiling all the time and during this session he would not smile much a all! We later saw throughout the day that he was not feeling good at all and he ended up having a little virus. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in how the session went but luckily our fantastic photographer was able to still capture some lovely pictures for us.

Can you tell this poor little guy was just not feeling the photo shoot? Poor baby!!! I wish we had seen more signs in advance and had time to reschedule. Oh well!

Luckily, Elin was a in good spirits and happy to sit for pictures in between running around and kicking up the leaves.

After giving Grayson had a bottle and some time to warm up in the car, he came back for a few smiles.

One thing I will never ever regret is investing in a photographer to capture family images. I will treasure all these photos forever. As much as I despise the process of making photo books, I love having the end product and looking through all the images and having all the memories from each session.

Elin’s Last Day of T-Ball

Elin’s last day of fall t-ball came and went and I haven’t had time to blog about it.  First I just have to say how proud I am of Elin and how far she has come since her first practice.   I am also proud that she always went out there and tried her best.  She may not have always been paying attention to the game when she was on base or in the out field but she did always try.

Elin had two hits from being pitched and one of the tee.  I was amazed at how well she did from being pitched.

dscn6247

As you can see from her silly face she was pretty proud of herself as well.  The hardest part is getting her to pay attention to the other batters and not just sit there and talk and dance around.

dscn6249

dscn6248

She  really has more of a hard time when she has all that time to kill when the other team is batting.  I have to remind myself that she is only 4 years old and one of the youngest ones out there.

dscn6265

dscn6262

Overall I think Elin learned lots and has a lot more of a understanding of an organized sport.  She still enjoys hitting off her tee in the back yard.

She was super psyched about getting a trophy and she looks at it almost every night before she goes to bed.

Halloween 2016- Grayson’s First Halloween

Halloween was such a busy night this year! We had a lot to do and a lot of people to see in a short period of time. Immediately after work I went to pick up the kids and got them all dressed and their Nanny and Papa’s house so they could see them all dressed up.

img_5199

Grayson received a new sleeper a baseball rattle and a book about pumpkins.

img_5215

Elin scored a cat and carrier Doc McStuffin’s set. She has been loving it.

img_5205

Then we went over to the cousins’ house to see them and Elin stayed this year to trick or treat with them and some of the neighborhood kids.

img_5274

Elin was so excited to have other kids to go around with this year. She couldn’t keep up very well because these kids ran from house to house like they were in a race. After about 30 mins of going door to door she was done and declared she had enough candy and didn’t need anymore. She mainly just wanted to walk around holding Papa’s hand after that.

img_5275

img_5262

img_5276

On our way home from trick or treating we stopped at another family friend’s house to trick or treat.

img_5266

Then we got home and visited a couple of neighbors as well.

We got some pics of Grayson all dressed up as well. We got him a “First Halloween” rattle and a Halloween book. Elin got a cute dress that looked very similar to her costume for her Bitty Baby doll. I failed to get a picture of that.

Elin stayed up way too late looking through her candy and helping me answer the door.

Elin’s Audrey Hepburn Costume

Elin saw a picture of Audrey Hepburn somewhere and she asked me who she was. I tried to tell her a little bit about her and  showed her the movie trailer to “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.”  She thought Audrey was so beautiful and a princess so she asked me to show her more pictures and we did a google search and found a picture of a little girl dressed up as Audrey and Elin went crazy.  After I had to explain to her it was just a costume and not the real Audrey as a child we discussed the possibility of Elin dressing up as Audrey Hepburn for Halloween and from there I started planning and putting together her costume.  Elin loves it and feels like such a princess! She said the next time she goes to Disney World she has to find Audrey.

Since this is such a special costume we decided  to take her on a little photo shoot and get some pictures of her around town.  Elin had the best time walking along and posing for her camera.  I am so in love with the photos!  There were so many great ones to share but here is some of my favorites.

Pumpkin Patch #3: Kelsey Farms

Our third and final pumpkin patch of the season was to Kelsay Farms.  We had never visited there before but since the weather was so lovely we decided we should give it a try.

img_4214

The first order of business was to let Elin take a ride on the cow train.  She loved it!  We hit it up a the perfect  time where there was no line and she got right in with no wait.

img_4217

dscn6131

There were so many photos ops that we had to stop and take pictures to as many as we could.

dscn6150

dscn6158

dscn6146

Elin was so excited to see Spookley the Square Pumpkin!  In fact they sold the dvd of the movie there so I went ahead and bought it since she loves it so much.   It really is a cute one if you have not had the chance to see it.

dscn6196

Elin’s favorite part by far was the sandboxes of corn to play in. She could have stayed in there for hours! We practically had to to dray her out of there because she loved it so much.

dscn6187

We didn’t get many pics of poor Grayson there because he was sleeping most of the time.  He was getting over a cough and runny nose.  Below is  the only two pics I got of him.  He is such a good baby to go along and be happy and content at all the places we drug him too.

dscn6210

Grayson picked out this little pumpkin to take home. I love this picture of him really checking it out.

img_4303

We rode a hay ride and Elin got to check out some tractors, some baby cows and practice milking a cow on a cow machine.  Elin had a lot of fun bu the third pumpkin patch did us in.  We have had enough patch fun until next year.

Pumpkin Patch #2: Appleworks

dscn6002

A couple of weekends ago we made a last minute decision to go to another pumpkin patch since the weather was so beautiful! So after one of Elin’s T-ball games, we went Appleworks in Trafalgar. We had such a great time. The weather was absolutely perfect. Sunny with bright blue skies but crisp enough to wear long sleeves. The perfect fall weather!

Elin wanted to immediately start looking for the perfect pumpkin. I limited her to only once since we already had quite a few pumpkins from the last patch visit.

Grayson was all smiles and enjoying the bumpy ride in his stroller as we walked him along in the patch. He loves to be constantly moving!

img_3986

img_3983

After picking out the perfect pumpkin, we took non-hay filled wagon up to the kids area. We had to wait quite a long time to get on the wagon, but once we were on it, the ride was so nice because it was a little longer than your typical ride. Elin loved going around the large pond on the property.

dscn6009

Once we got up to the kids area, Elin quickly spotted a train and pony rides. I told her she could do both so we got in line for the ponies first.

img_3971

Elin loves the ponies and I had a hard time getting her to hold on with two hands because she wanted to pet the pony with one hand the whole time. She could have ridden them all afternoon if they would have let her.

img_3999

Then she eagerly waited for the train to come back and it never did! Apparently it ran out of gas and so they had to stop the train rides. What a bummer!

img_4004

I just love this pic of Grayson smiling up at Elin. He loves it when she comes over to his stroller to be silly which she does a lot!  They had so much fun at the patch that we decided to hit up a different patch the next day. I’ll share those pics soon!

First Pumpkin Patch Visit

A couple of weekends ago we went and visited the first apple orchard/pumpkin patch of the season.  This was little Grayson’s first trip ever!  I am so glad I was able to capture him looking through the tree with Elin and Max.

dscn5844

We go to Anderson’s Orchard every year and the past couple years we have attended the kids day where they have train rides, a petting zoo and bounce house fun.

Elin loves having Max along to play with.  Little Grayson enjoyed watching all the fun from his stroller. It’s hard to believe that next year he will be running around there with them.

dscn5849

dscn5857

Every year we pick the first pumpkins of the season and Elin enjoys running around and checking them all out.  I don’t why but there was far less of them this year.

dscn5872

dscn5861

Grayson was unimpressed when I attempted to place him in the bin with mini pumpkins so he was just hovered over it for a photo.

dscn5867

I told Elin to just pick out 2 but she just kept bringing them to me as I attempted to pay. We walked out with several more than what I planned on but they have made nice additions to my sparse fall decor in the house.

The white mini’s are my absolute favorite.

img_4352

After selecting pumpkins it was time to check out the little petting zoo.  Elin was fond of the bunny and cat but I thought the pig in the stroller was hilarious.  Elin had an apple in her hand when we walked up and they told us to make sure to have it out of sight of the pig.  I can only imagine how often they had to say that since the petting zoo was at an apple orchard.  Poor piggy!

Elin and Max had a wonderful time and I can’t wait for Grayson to get to join in the fun next year!
