A Peter Rabbit Themed First Birthday Party

Grayson is 9.5 months old and it’s already time to start thinking about his first birthday!  The first birthday is such a huge milestone and big celebration.  I feel like it was just yesterday I was planning Elin’s first birthday party and she will be turning five in May.

Since Grayson’s birthday is in the Spring and so close to Easter I though a Peter Rabbit theme would be perfect for him.  I’m already trying to think of cute bunny themed  decor and treats.  Luckily, since it it is close to Easter I am hoping to fine more Peter Rabbit themed items in stores in the next month or so.

I made an inspiration board to gather colors and ideas.  I can’t believe our little bunny is almost one!

Easter 2016

Easter has come and gone so quickly this year! There was hardly any time to enjoy the season. However, Elin still got to participate in 3 egg hunts and had lots of fun.

The first egg hunt she went to was at her Nanny and Papa’s church. This was our second year participating and it was a lot more crowded this year, but I think Elin had a lot more fun with her cousin Max and friend Lydia there with her.

These two were quite anxious to get started hunting their eggs.

Take a look at that running stance. She was certainly ready to run and understood the concept this year of wanting to run fast and further out.

She collected up quite a few eggs but was pretty good about not getting into them until we got home. There were some story time activities and refreshments that she enjoyed as well.

Nanny and Papa came over after the hunt to see her open her eggs and to give her some Easter treats.

The next day was Easter and I was very excited for her to check out her basket and have another egg hunt with eggs the bunny left her.

She was very excited with all her many treats and surprises.

Then it was finally time for her to hunt eggs outside.

She was so very pleased to see that some of her eggs held Tsum Tsums which are her new favorite toys! She got a few of the small soft plush ones but she really loves the little rubber figurines.

Little Angel enjoyed watching all the excitement.

Then i was time to go to visit the cousins and start hunt number 3.

They all found many eggs.  Elin was convinced that the eggs with dollar bills were empty so she was quite upset when she found those! I think we eventually convinced her that it wasn’t bad to get those and to stop throwing those back out of her basket. Silly girl!

She had a good Easter and it was hard to believe that it’s going to be her last Easter as an only child! We are trying to soak up these last few days with her.

Easter Basket 2016

I adore easter baskets. I love all the pastel colors and all the fun sweet things to put inside them. It’s so hard for me to not go crazy and overboard buying up all the fun little holiday themed items to go inside.

Each year it has gotten even easier to fill the basket because each year Elin likes more candy and treat options. However, in my opinion the perfect Easter basket is a good mixture of toys and candy.

Here is a closer look at the goodies in inside the basket. Almost all the items were purchased from Target aside from the stuffed bunny. Target has the best little seasonal section for stuffing Easter baskets.

A little toy stuffed bunny is a must. I mean, how can you resist? This one is a nice smaller size from Pottery Barn Kids and is literally the softest little bunny in the world. This was not the mini size although those are quite sweet as well.

Lip smackers are a must for Elin right now. She is obsessed with putting on “lip gloss” as she calls it every morning. She usually slathers are 4 or 5 different kinds and she loves to put it on so thick that she gives herself a pink mustache. I really tried to not get the chap stick but I just know she will love it. She will also love the little chick topper which doubles as wee key chain. Something fun to hang on the book bag zipper.

I’m not sure how the hatchable eggs will turn out. I thought they might be fun for her to try out and then the bunny popper is just for a fun toy as well. I’m sure the balls will promptly get lost but I couldn’t resist.

Note: I usually put a book in there and was shocked that I had forgotten. So even though it’s not pictured I found a Easter themed coloring and sticker book.

Now on the edible items. Elin mentioned she was hoping the bunny would bring her a lollipop so I found one in the shape of a Peep and an actual Peep pop. She loves carrots and carrot themed candy so I was excited to find the carrot chocolates, jelly beans, and starburst tube. She has started to really like Sweettarts, Laffy Taffy, and Nerds so I scooped those up and of course she LOVES Pez. These packs of Pez were a good deal since they came with many refills so she is getting two of those.

I also picked up one of the little cartons of Gold fish crackers. They just looked so springy!

What cool things did you find this year for the Easter basket? Any things that you find to be essentials?

Easter and Four Egg Hunts

Elin celebrated her Easter with many celebrations and four Easter egg hunts. The first egg hunt took place on Saturday at my parents’ church. We showed up on on the time but apparently the egg hunt had just started. Despite a late start, Elin found tons of eggs and we had to cut her off from collecting them because her basket was actually overflowing. After the egg hunt, she had a great time going through all her eggs and finding all the candy, toys, and stickers inside.

The next day on Easter she was so excited to get downstairs and see what the bunny had brought her. She was thrilled with her basket of goodies. The standout item was the Cinderella magic clip doll, of course! She was so excited to get them out and immediately start playing.

Angel decided to pose and look cute with the Easter basket.

The bunny of course dropped off some eggs in the yard to hunt which was fun to look for. The morning was so beautiful and springy. Perfect Easter weather.

Then it was off to Nana and Papa’s for Easter lunch and another Easter egg hunt. Elin had a fun time playing with her cousins and getting another basket of goodies.

Then later in the afternoon, she went on another egg hunt at my husband’s sister’s house. Her Oma made her a basket to collect all her eggs in.

She got lots of goodies at all her celebrations and had so much fun.

Bunny and Lamb

Elin was one lucky girl last weekend when she got to have her photo taken with a real bunny and lamb! A friend of ours noticed a local photography studio was doing these photos and we were lucky enough to grab one of the last spots available. I knew Elin was going to be so excited and, as anticipated, she was! She got to see the bunny first which was such a little fluff ball of fur. He was very gentle and sweet. The lamb was so sweet as well but he was more adventurous and was skipping all around the set. He was a little harder to capture. Overall I think the pictures turned out well.

Easter Bunny 2015

Someone was  a lucky girl and got to go visit the Easter bunny at the mall. She has been looking forward to it all week and finally the day was here. She talked the whole way in the car about how she was going to sit on his lap and smile for a picture.

I picked her up after work and we went with her Nana and Papa to the mall and luckily there were no lines. Apparently there is not a lot of love for the bunny like there is for Santa–which I totally get, but it still was shocking to not have to wait.

They took many photos and it was so hard to narrow it down to two favorites. I love that Elin is not scared at all with Santa or the bunny.

She got a lot of extra time with the bunny since there was no line and I was taking forever to choose my photos. I love this photo of her waiting patiently for me to finish. Thank god for iPhone cameras to capture photos quickly and easily.

The bunny handed out the cutest little coloring and activity book.

I cannot believe Elin has been around for three Easters already! Look how much she has changed from all her photos. The bunny hasn’t changed a bit.

Easter Basket Goodies

This past weekend I went and ahead and assembled Elin’s Easter basket and made sure that everything fit in the basket. I thought I had bought less than last year, but I still had trouble getting everything to fit in there!

I think the item that Elin is going to be most excited for is this Cinderella Magic Clip set. Elin loves everything about Cinderella right now and this set is so adorable. I thought all the clothes were spot on and Jaq and Gus are included! That is the mice, if you did not know. You would know this if you watched the movie at least ten times a week like I do.

This set is a Target exclusive:

I always make sure to include a few books, and this one is so cute! Elin thinks bunnies are the cutest, so she is going to flip over this book.

Another item that is sure to be a hit are these pink, sparkly sunglasses. Elin already has so many different pairs of sunglasses, but she wears them all the time. It’s seriously hard to get her to take them off!

Other than some gummies and jelly beans, the majority of her candy will be in her eggs that she will hunt. I think the Easter bunny found some awesome goodies again this year!

Spring/Easter Decor

I finally put out our Spring/Easter decor yesterday and I thought I would share since I like decor and getting ideas from all sources. I am slowly starting to purchase items since Elin has been old enough to enjoy them. I was purposely waiting until now so that she could help pick items out with us and be a part of the process.

This year I have some spring blooms out with a bunny frame I purchased last year when we went to get our Easter bunny photos. As soon as we see the bunny this year, I will replace the photo.

I purchased this bunny plate from Hobby Lobby and the little bunny in the cloche is a little bunny I purchased for Elin last year from Von Maur right after she got her picture taken with the Easter bunny. I was so thrilled with her smile during the photo that when we walked by this little bunny on display, she just had to have him. Unfortunately, he is not intended  for children and he was already starting to fall apart, so I just made him a part of our decor this year. She already spotted him and wanted to play with him, but I talked her out of it.

I love the bunny garland we got from Pottery Barn Kids last year and I put it up again in the same spot across the fireplace.

I used an apothecary jar from one of Elin’s birthday parties and just put in some Spanish moss and pastel Easter eggs from Michaels. I love all the creative ideas for using apothecary jars and for changing them out often.

These sweet bunnies are from Von Maur. I thought they were perfect for the sunroom.

My newest addition is this boxwood bunny from Von Maur. He is so simple, but I love him!

Elin’s room decor is her egg snow globe she got when she meet the bunny with her picture in it and her little bunny bank from Pottery Barn kids. I have a feeling we will craft a few items for the walls.

Easter Weekend

Elin had a busy and exciting Easter weekend.  She had an Easter egg hunt and lunch on Saturday at her Nana and Papa’s house. She  enjoyed hunting for eggs and running around the yard. She clutched some toys in her hand during the hunt and only pointed out eggs in the beginning but then she got into the spirit and set down her toys and picked up eggs. She enjoyed watching us open up her eggs and check out her goodies.

elin-eggsThen on Sunday the Easter bunny left her a big basket of fun and she spent the whole morning happily playing and examining each item. Then in the afternoon it was off to more Easter festivities.

I can’t believe how different Elin’s Easter was this year from last.  Last year she couldn’t even walk let alone hunt for Easter eggs and excitedly go through her Easter basket.  It’s amazing how much she has changed and learned in just a year.

Since her new favorite word is “Easter bunny” she is not going to enjoy seeing the decorations being put away.  She loves snow globes and she now is the proud owner of a egg shaped snow globe with a picture of her and the Easter bunny inside(yes, they suckered me in at the Easter booth) .  I”m afraid we will not be able to put that one away.  She loves taking a look at it every morning when she wakes up and every night before she goes to bed,

Easter Bunny Visit

After lots of anticipation, Elin finally got to visit with the Easter bunny this year. She has been talking about the Easter bunny non-stop for a week now and I was getting afraid that he might not live up the hype.

She visited him last year when she was 10 months old and she did very well and smiled very well for her picture.

This year she paid very close attention to everyone in line in front of her and was watching them talk to the bunny and get their picture taken. When it was her turn, you could tell she was so excited. She kept saying, “Easter bunny soft” over and over and she petted his hand and she even looked up a few times and grabbed his nose. It was a little hard to get a good picture because she was just looking at his hands and face the whole time, but finally we got her to look at the camera and wave. I was scared that she was going to throw a fit when it was time to get off his lap, but she did very well.

After the visiting the bunny, she loved checking out the fountains and walking near the display where the bunny was seated to point out the flowers.

On our way out the door, she spotted a little bunny home decor piece at Von Maur. It became clear that she was not leaving the little guy behind, so we ended up purchasing him as a souvenir. He was not meant for a toddler so she promptly detached his ear during the car ride home, so we are working on mending him.

Elin is very much anticipating Easter this weekend.
